A. Teardrop implants are usually placed behind the muscle through an incision in the breast fold. To make a teardrop implant, the silicone has to be more solid than in a round implant. By placing the implant behind the muscle, the upper pole of the implant looks more natural. Teardrop implants are available with a silicone shell and a polyurethane coating. The silicone coated ones are made by Allergan (www.natrelle.co.uk) and the Polyurethane type by Silimed (www.pureimplants.com) The cost varies from £4200 to £4500 depending on the implant as polyurethane implants are more expensive. If the procedure can be done as a daycase, the cost is about £200 less
